God Made You Unique

Before I jump into today’s issue of Walking on Water Weekly – I want to share an exciting email I just received. A friend in Indianapolis emailed to let me know she ministered at a healing meeting last night and every person who received prayer was healed!

Hopefully her email is an encouragement to you – we are living in a time of the Holy Spirit pouring out in great power. God wants to use you to see His glory manifest on the earth and He wants to utilize you in your own unique way.

Recently I finished my first book and it has been a long project. For many years I have received words about writing a book and would always stick it on my to-do list but never made any real progress. In the fall of 2022 – God told me I was now at a place of disobedience because I knew what He had spoken to me but hadn’t put much effort to actually do it.

But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.
(James 1:14-15)

Have you ever found yourself in a place of knowing what God wants but not stepping out in faith to follow Him?

I didn’t realize how much fear I had about the book. What if only my parents bought a copy? What if no one receives breakthrough when reading it?

Sometimes God challenges you to follow Him in ways that seem easy on the surface but cause your undealt with insecurities to surface in a new way.

When the manuscript was finally finished – I thought I was home free without realizing God wasn’t finished stretching me. Do you ever find the courage to follow God and then realize the lesson isn’t over just yet?

Some wonderful friends of mine let me know all the ways I should change the cover, title, etc. of the book to sell more copies. Their heart has been in the right place – they are for me and just want my book to be a success, but it caused me to begin questioning why I had even written it. Someone would say the cover is too dull, someone else would say it’s too bright, someone else thought a better font would work – it was starting to feel overwhelming.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
(Philippians 4:6-7)

When you start to listen to lots of voices about what God has called you to do – you will get submerged under the opinion of everyone else and often miss what God is trying to say.

Since so many voices were giving input – I decided to run a poll on my social media because I just wanted the choice to be made. An older leader had mercy on me and reached out to help. She told me not to be concerned about what everyone else thought with the book or cover or anything related to it but to just pick something that was me. She said if God is in the book it will get into the hands of the people who need it.

Sometimes you need an outside voice to just encourage you to go for God in your own unique expression. I felt so free because I didn’t like any of the covers being considered at that point. The good news is the cover is being finished this week and it is me.

What is the big thing God has challenged you to do recently that you have been procrastinating?

  • Set aside some time with God to find out why you aren’t following Him.
  • Insecurities just show us areas we haven’t found our identity in Christ. Ask God to renew your mind and help you live as His child above everything else.
  • Don’t let yourself get distracted by what everyone else is doing or what everyone else thinks about what God has for you.
  • There is never going to be a perfect time to go for God – so just do it!

Today is your day to step out of the boat.
